Start with occupied chairs
Measure the table with its chairs pulled out as they would be during a meal. Enter that footprint for the dining set before deciding how far the paving should extend.
Arrange a dining set beneath a timber pergola. Follow the L-shaped paving to a reading bench beside the tree, or move the table to check the space around its chairs.

Drag an element or enter its centre position from the top-left plot corner. Elements stay within the plot.
Each surface is measured separately. Where surfaces overlap, their areas count the shared patch in both readings.
Measure the table with its chairs pulled out as they would be during a meal. Enter that footprint for the dining set before deciding how far the paving should extend.
Check the narrowest gap between the set and the paving edge. Trace the route past the pergola posts to the bench beside the lawn. Move the seats if that route cuts through the dining set.
Mark the proposed paving corners on the ground. Check the door swing, steps and where water currently drains before settling on the finished edge.

Compare a raised-bed gardenThe paving margin uses the nearest edge of the L-shaped paving, including its inside corner. It measures from the dining set’s footprint. Check the bench, pergola posts and planters separately when planning a passage.
The paved area, dining set, pergola, bench and lawn move independently. This lets you compare a larger paved footprint with moving the seats instead.
The plan records horizontal sizes and positions. Measure thresholds and levels on site and confirm drainage and construction details separately.
