Space around the island

Each reading is the shortest edge-to-edge distance between the named units. Touching or overlapping footprints read zero. Check drawer, appliance-door and stool positions separately.

Trace the work triangle

Start at the fridge, take food to the sink and carry it to the cooktop. The table updates when you move one of those appliances. Check each line against the island and any route through the room.

Plan around the way you cook

Set the cabinet run

Start with the full depth of the base cabinet, including its front. Select it in 2D and apply the outside measurements of the unit you own.

Check the moving parts

Mark the space used by an open dishwasher door or a pulled-out drawer. Compare it with the gap to the island or opposite counter.

Walk through with groceries

Trace the route from the entry to the fridge, then on to the sink. Move the island or rotate it if a corner interrupts the route.

Cabinet and appliance sizes

The schedule shows the current width and depth of each component. Select a piece above to enter its measured size. Turning it changes the direction it occupies on the plan.

Kitchen Planner FAQ

Will an island fit in my kitchen?

Start with Baker’s island kitchen. Select Kitchen island, enter its outside width and depth in metres and choose Apply size. Drag it toward the dishwasher and compare the gap with the depth of the open appliance door. Follow the route past the island with someone standing at the sink.

How do I compare an island with a galley?

Switch between Baker’s island kitchen and Galley kitchen. The island sits opposite a wall run; the galley has work surfaces along two facing walls. Each starter keeps its own changes while you compare them on this page. Reset this layout restores only the selected starter.

What is the difference between the cabinet gaps and the work triangle?

The gaps use the nearest edges of two footprints. The work triangle joins the centres of the sink, cooktop and fridge. Its legs are straight lines; trace how you would actually walk around the island and open doors.

How do I enter a cabinet size measured in millimetres?

The size fields use metres in steps of 0.01 m. A 600 × 650 mm base unit is 0.60 m wide and 0.65 m deep. Width and depth follow the unit itself, even when it is rotated.

Can I make an L-shaped kitchen or change an opening?

Open the current layout in Studio to edit walls, doors or windows and add more units. For a new shell with your own wall lengths, start with the Floor Plan Maker.
